5/30/14 Friday
Math- We completed the RTI end of year test today. Interventions time was spend with extra help with perimeter, volume and area. A detailed report of science and math grades went home with students today.
Science- We saw some rovers, discussed rovers, made plans and blueprints for a rover, then built a rover with alternate supplies (marshmallows, graham crackers, gum drops, etc.)
5/29/14 Thursday
Math- The AM class did not have much time for math. Swimming was fun though! The notes for the unit 8 practice test went home today along with the packets if needed.
Science- The AM class started work on their rovers. The PM class did not have time for science today.
5/28/14 Wednesday
Math- We worked on the unit 8 practice test today. The AM class completed the test and some in the PM class. The notes and grades will go home with the students tomorrow. Math Box 9-4 is due tomorrow.
Science- The moon phase test was today. The grades for the AM class have been posted and the PM class will be posted tonight or tomorrow morning. The students did the preliminary grading so they should have an idea of their score on the test.
5/27/15 Tuesday
Math- We reviewed for the unit 8 practice test tomorrow. We put off grading math box 9-3 until tomorrow. math box 9-4 is still due on Thursday for those who did not achieve an A on math box 9-2. This will be on perimeter, area and volume.
Science- Due to the swim schedule both classes were able to get some science today. We practiced for the moon phase test tomorrow.
5/21/14 Wednesday
Math- We are practicing our skills with perimeter, area and volume to get ready for the unit 8 practice test on Tuesday. This final test will be the last test grade we will have in math this year.
Science- Next week Wednesday we will have a test on the moon phases. This will be the last science test for this year. We spent class time today reviewing the moon phases.
5/20/14 Tuesday
Math- We took a break from volume today to review coordinate grids. Math box 9-2 was graded and math box 9-3 is due next week Tuesday.
Science- AM- We worked on our final summary page. This was a repeat of a summary page that was done at the start of the year and will be used to compare growth in summarizing skills.
5/19/14 Monday
Math- We drew rectangular prisms today to help us understand how to find volume when drawn by someone else on a page. Math box 9-2 is due tomorrow.
Science- Took a practice moon phases test today and played moon phase concentration to practice recognizing what the moon phases look like.
5/15/14 Thursday
Math- While working on volume, we also worked on stamina (trying without just giving up) and following directions. The worksheet we did in class on the storage units is due tomorrow.
Science- We took the science test today for the reason for the seasons. I have all of the AM class tests posted and a few the the PM class tests posted.

Math- We have been practicing more volume and area type problems. The unit 8 test will be mostly on area and volume. Math box 9-1 is due tomorrow.
Science- Tomorrow is the Science test on why we have seasons. If the work they have been turning in is any indication, we will have some great scores. :) We are now moving on to moon phases.

Math- Volume and area practice took up most of our math time. We did some hands-on activities as well as journal pages. Math box 9-1 is due on Thursday.
Science- AM class- Field trip de-briefing. We combined a post field trip writing with thank you cards for our chaperons. PM class did not have science. Thursday is a test on why we have seasons.

We had a successful mission to Mars today. The shuttle landed safely and a probe was successfully sent out to help some stranded astronauts on Mars.
5/9/14 Friday
Math- We took the vocabulary test today. We had some time to work on our hands-on volume project.
The mile run took up our science time today.
5/8/14 Thursday
Math- We took the unit 7 final test today. The grades are in Infinite Campus. Tomorrow is the vocabulary test.
Science- AM class- completed mars and Earth comparisons. PM class went over field trip expectations and did a communication activity to prepare for the field trip.
5/7/14 Wednesday
Math. We spent some time with hands on measuring of both volume and area. We also spent some time going over the learning goals that will be on the unit 7 final test which is tomorrow.
Science- We are comparing Mars and Earth and practicing using evidence to back our claims.

Today was NWEA testing for math.
Science- Mars- the planet we are going to visit on Monday.

Math- We are finding the area and perimeter of rectangular objects in the classroom. During interventions, students who need help on different parts of the unit 7 test are getting smaller group help. The unit 7 final test is Thursday and the vocabulary test is Friday.
Science- The reason for the seasons paper is due tomorrow. This was started last week Friday and student's had today to work on them in class. Any work that was not completed by the end of class today is homework. The download for the rubric is available above.

We focused on the same topics as we did yesterday. The skills from last unit are needed to be successful in this unit. When fractions and decimals are involved, volume takes on a new level of difficulty.
Science- Why we have seasons. Writing up a "paper" with evidence to show the reason for the seasons.

Math- Area and volume with decimals and fractions. We studied for the vocabulary test which is next week. Math box 8-5 is due on Monday. The vocabulary words that will be on the math test are available for download in the file above.
Science- We completed out investigation on angled rays. We will start to put the information we have gathered together and will begin on our project of proving why we have seasons.
